Our Chinese New Year craft and art session for children in Shrewsbury is a fun and educational workshop celebrating this important cultural festival through creativity, storytelling, and nature-based learning. Held in our forest school environment at Love2Stay, this session supports curiosity, confidence, and cultural understanding.

Children will learn about the meaning of Chinese New Year before taking part in hands-on activities, including painting Chinese numbers from 0–10, creating numbers using natural materials, and exploring the Year of the Horse through environmental art and collage.

Creative activities also include making a dragon fortune teller and designing horse-themed artwork using resources found in our woodland setting. Where possible, a family member may join the session to share personal experiences of Chinese New Year, helping children gain a deeper understanding of traditions and celebrations.

All materials are provided, and sessions are led by experienced educators specialising in early years and outdoor learning. This workshop is ideal for families looking for cultural activities, forest school sessions, and creative learning opportunities for children in Shropshire.

About Our Creative Team

Our craft and art sessions at Love2Stay Shrewsbury are led by experienced educators Adele and Michelle, who are passionate about outdoor learning, creativity, and child development.

Adele, Director of Shropshire Tutor, has over 30 years of teaching experience from EYFS to secondary level. Michelle is an EYFS specialist with extensive experience in early years education. Together, they plan and deliver fun, seasonal activities within our forest school setting.

Through creative play, art, and nature-based learning, children are encouraged to explore, build confidence, and express their ideas in their own unique way. Our sessions support imagination, wellbeing, and early learning in a safe outdoor environment.

As Pablo Picasso said, “Every child is an artist.” We are proud to nurture creativity through meaningful, hands-on experiences.

As this is a hands-on arts and crafts session involving paint, glue, and natural materials, children should wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting messy. Older clothing or craft aprons are ideal. Sessions take place outdoors, so we also recommend dressing appropriately for the weather, including warm layers in cooler conditions and sun protection on warmer days.
