A Chester camping family, who are considering investing in a touring caravan for holidays next year, hit the jackpot when they attended an ‘Experience Weekend’ organised by the new £4.5 million Love2Stay resort in Shrewsbury.
During the weekend, the resort’s owner Salop Leisure ran a competition with a bumper prize package, which was won by Darren and Alex James.
Their prize included a holiday at Love2Stay, a bottle of Tanners Prosecco, two bottles of Tanners 175-year anniversary ale, a signed cookery book by Chris Burt, chef at nearby The Mytton and Mermaid Hotel, afternoon tea for two at The Mytton and Mermaid Hotel and a basket of treats from Battlefield 1403 Fam Shop.
In addition, they won two family tickets to the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, a pack of Shropshire Lad and Lass beer and glass from Woods Brewery, a family ticket for a Sabrina Boat trip on the River Severn in Shrewsbury, half day cookery course for two at Brompton Cookery School and two mugs and matching tea towels from the National Trust’s Attingham Park.
The prize could not have come at a better time for the couple, whose spare time has been dominated by studying for the last few years. Alex, an advanced nurse practitioner, has just completed a thesis while Darren as just finished a degree in electrical engineering.
The couple, who have three children, had been camping in the Welshpool area when they decided to visit Salop Leisure’s headquarters in Shrewsbury to view touring caravans.
“We are thinking about moving from a tent into a caravan, but won’t be getting one until next Easter,” explained Alex. “For the last five years, we have both been studying, but now we have finished, it’s time to look at a caravan.
“We are going to France for a family camping holiday this summer, but next year we will have a caravan for holidays in the UK and abroad.”
She said was very impressed by Salop Leisure and Love2Stay and was looking forward to taking up the holiday prize.
